FALSI AMICI IN INGLESE/ FALSE FRIENDS IN ENGLISH
VERSIONE ITALIANA:
Un "false friend" (falso amico) è una parola inglese di origine latina, la quale, una volta entrata a far parte del vocabolario anglo-sassone, ha cambiato significato.
Il risultato è che essa, pur somigliando ad una parola italiana, non ha lo stesso significato, e dunque può trarre in errore nell'eseguirne la traduzione.
ES. "EDUCATION"
Questa parola somiglia all’italiano “educazione”, ma in inglese significa “istruzione”.
“Educazione” in inglese si dice infatti "POLITENESS".
ES. "CAMERA"
Questa parola non significa “camera, stanza”, come può sembrare. "Camera" si traduce infatti in inglese “ROOM”.
“CAMERA” è invece la “macchina fotografica” o la “telecamera”.
Occorre dunque stare molto attenti quando si è di fronte ad una di queste parole, e controllare sempre sul dizionario il loro reale significato.

A "false friend" is an English word of Latin origin, which, once it became part of the Anglo-Saxon vocabulary, changed its meaning.
The result is that, although it sounds similar to an Italian word, it does not have the same meaning, and therefore it can lead to mistakes when we translate it.
E.G. "EDUCATION"
This word sounds like the Italian "educazione", but in English it means something else. The English word for "educazione" is instead "POLITENESS".
E.G. "CAMERA"
This word does not mean "stanza", as it may seem. “Stanza” is instead "room" in English.
Therefore it is necessary to be very careful when we find one of these words, and always check their actual meaning in the dictionary.
